We went on a walk in the neighborhood to look for some urban wildlife shelters. The children were equipped with paper and pencils to take notes on their findings, we called them field notes. Some kids wanted to draw pictures of what they found, others wanted to write down words or letters associated with their observations. We found nests, holes, webs and a human made bug box. We wondered about how some animals made their own homes and how others found their homes out of pre-existing spaces. We had so many questions and ideas that we will have to do more of these walks soon to figure out all the answers.
We all stop to take note of a crow nearby.
AD helps AB with the letter S to represent the spider web we found tucked between some rocks.
The Bug Box was a fascinating discovery. We stopped for a while here to make sure we drew all of the details in our field notes.
