Tuliptree Friday Science started when I was driving to work listening to NPR and thought, “Oh! There’s a theme for summer camp!” But it wasn’t emergent until the children and I started wondering together. And then a transformation in all of us happened. The Best Walk Ever!

I love the sense of ownership that this process is giving the children. I love the camaraderie that it builds, and the way that it bolsters collaborative thinking. I love that these kids are already steeped in the knowledge of how to add to ideas, rather than compete with them. And most of all I love, deeply love, that they feel honored and celebrated in this world.
