This morning we had a choice to stay in to use the musical instruments that some children have been eyeing on the shelf these past few weeks. We sang some songs all together while keeping a beat on the big drum. Then we talked about tempo and volume. We tried high volume with slow temp, low volume with fast tempo but the favorite of the day seemed to be fast tempo with a high volume. Throughout most of the morning we played freely with the instruments without instruction, which allowed time for true exploration. 2015-09-16

SS, a drumming pro, used two drumsticks, the little drum and the big drum to recreate the drum kit he has at home.

KM did a lot of the singing during explore time. She sang a Halloween song while playing the drum in rhythm.

KP remembered from past music appointments that the vibrations from the drum make the bunnies hop.

CW and KM made harmonicas, bells and bunnies jump by hitting the drum with a fast tempo. One bunny jumped almost all the way to Lucy's cage.

AW played the drum with lots of force. He was trying to make the bells bounce off with one or two hits of the drum.
