The rainbow has played an important reoccurring role as a character of curiosity in our classroom and project work this year. Appearing on sunny days from prisms and crystals throughout the school, there have been questions and pretend play in interacting with these ethereal visions.
Last week, a group of us took some time in the studio to mix paint colors and try our hand at painting a rainbow. I wasn’t sure what color mixing would happen on the page, and in the paint cups. This group was intent on mixing in their cups, feeling the quality of paint on their hands, and making big, looping swirls with fingers and brushes.
